AN INTERVIEW WITH GAIL SIMONE.

Before you start reading... We want to thank Gail Simone for being such an adorable person. She's the most open and friendly writer there is and in our opinion the more connected with Wonder Woman and her fans. This took place because miracles exist. I hope you enjoy the interview.
Sincerely, Erick a.k.a. Nerites.

AN INTERVIEW WITH GAIL SIMONE
Hello,
First and foremost I'd like to thank you for the opportunity of asking you some questions for MARVILA, el blog de la Mujer Maravilla. It's been almost three years since we started the blog to talk about the Amazing Amazon.
Oh, yeah, I'm a fan of the site. It's one of the best character sites out there, anywhere, and that's a fact.
I'm sorry I have to be a LITTLE brief in my answers, as I'm behind on a very cool WW project I can't talk about yet!
There we have witnessed the love and excitement that the Wonder Woman internet community felt when you were mentioned to be the new ongoing writer for Diana. We have also followed the issues with great interest and have discussed there how much we love Diana's new adventures and the strong voice she now has. We believe in you and trust you are the right person for the job.
Oh, the internet support has been amazing. I can't remember the last time so many people pushed for one person to write a book. DC listened, and it happened because of the readers. I'm very humbled by that.

Now, if you don't mind, on to the interview.
* Many of us Wonder Woman and comic book fans fell in love with comic books when we were young. Did you also use to read comics when you were a girl? What were your favorite books?
Oh, yeah, big reader as a kid. But I didn't have a preference...I loved kids' books, scary comics, war comics, superhero books, whatever. I absorbed it all, and you can see some of that in my comics still. Eventually, I fell in love with JLA and it was all over.
* You have done an amazing job with Wonder Woman, taking her to many places in just a few number of issues and we see that the horizon is looking so grand. Have you always been a fan of Diana?
Absolutely, I loved her the moment I saw her. Again, I've said this a lot, but she was a princess who didn't need anyone to come rescue her.
And I'm loving writing the book, it's just a joy every day. I wanted to write her having ADVENTURES, not just battles. That's why we've been jumping around the DCU.
* Wonder Woman has always been mentioned to be a great role-model for girls. In your opinion, do you think that she continues to be one until today? (We know we do)
Certainly. A good Wonder Woman story should show her as a role model for girls AND boys. She stands for mercy, passion, kindness, tolerance, and protection of the defenseless. Those aren't gender-specific goals.
* On Marvila, we have been able to talk to fans from different parts of Latin-America and the world and we know they love what's happening with the stories now. How do you feel about Wonder Woman's fans being so passionate about Diana?
It's humbling. I meet so many people who feel so strongly about her...people who have fought cancer or spousal abuse. Diana helps them through that--that is an amazing thing. It's quite a responsibility.
* More and more people are turning their eyes to Wonder Woman and we know this summer will be a great one for her. Is there anything you can share with us about what's to come?
Oh, it's a big, big story. New characters, new settings, and a truly monstrous villain. Plus the return of some major, major WW characters. It's a BLAST.
* And our last question, have you ever come to Latin-America? (If so, where to? And if not, would you like to?)
I haven't, really, and I would love to. My son is learning Spanish, and we really want to see those parts of the world. Hopefully some time in the next year or so!
But I do have to say that Latin heritage folks are a huge part of the WW audience here at conventions in the states. I'm not sure why, but she's really popular with Asian Americans and African Americans as well. I find that really wonderful.
From all of us I'm sure to say that you're always welcome to visit the beautiful places of all of Latin-America and Brazil and from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for taking some time to talk to us, your Latin-American fan base.
Oooh, I'm dying to visit Brazil someday! A lot of my favorite artists are from there!
Thank you to ALL the readers of this website, especially the Latin-Americans reading, who have been so incredibly supportive. I will try never to let them down!
May the glory of Gaea be with you and Wonder Woman!
